Corvallis trip

The Concert Choir had a fabulous trip to Crescent Valley High School and Oregon State University on Feb 9th. Here are some of the pictures from our day - sight reading with the high school students at CV, lunch at the OSU Memorial Union, and rehearsal with the OSU choirs. It was a great day, and our hosts were very impressed by our Walker singers!

Welcome to 2010-11!

I am THRILLED to start working with our choirs this year. To make it even better, Walker now features an additional choir. The Chorale was split from a 6th-8th mixed choir into a 6th grade choir and a 7th/8th grade choir. Stay tuned for the updated choir handbook and calendar.

West Side Singers jazz auditions

Auditions for this year's West Side Singers will be held after school on September 10th and 11th in the choir room. Come to the choir room to sign up for a 5-minute time slot. Singers should be prepared to sing a song in the style of their choice (pop, jazz, folk) and will also do a vocal range check, sing-backs of short note pattenrs, and sight read a short exerpt.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Walker Choir Blog. I am Anna Seitz, the new Director of Choirs at Walker, and I'm excited and ready to begin a year of choral excellence with the choirs. I come to Salem from Albany where I taught previously, although I am originally from Corvallis. After receiving my B. Music from the University of Oregon, I completed my master's degree and teaching license at Oregon State University. The combination makes Civil War sporting events difficult! I have been fortunate to gain a multitude of musical experience as a soloist, choir member, director. I look forward to working with you!
